How it Works
Before Your Session
Avoid heavy meals for at least two hours before your sauna session, and stay well hydrated before, during, and after. Please remove any metal jewellery before entering.
What To Expect
This is a wild, authentic experience - intentionally simple and close to nature. There are no changing rooms nearby, so it’s best to arrive with your togs on. Toilets are a few hundred metres away at Ivon Wilson Park, so we recommend a quick stop there before you arrive.
During Your Session
You’ll be welcomed by a member of the Wildwood team, who’ll guide you through your session and explain our towel-waving ritual - a traditional way to circulate heat throughout the sauna. With your consent, we may use subtle, natural scents - such as essential oils inspired by local flora - to enhance the warmth and calm. Soft music completes the atmosphere, creating a soothing Fiordland sauna experience.
Whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned sauna-goer, Wildwood welcomes you - a calm, natural space to unwind on your own or share the warmth with others. A restorative wellness experience in Te Anau, open to all.
